WHERE ARE YOU?
Architecture can be a stand-in for cultural identity, place-based personhood. I try to showcase the individuality of different cultural styles while uniting them on the same plane and giving them complementary valence and tone.
DYLAN LIN

FUSION
I used Chinese ink painting style to capture windmills in Spain in order to fuse two cultures that are rarely connected. I wanted to combine two cultural styles in order to reflect two temporal characteristics: old and new. The windmills are older ways to harness the earth's power which are making a comeback today in producing clean energy.
A PEEK INSIDE
My brother has always been curious; he loves investigating problems. I wanted to capture his inquisitiveness and skepticism by having him break the fourth wall and look directly into the "lens" of the painting.
AFTERNOON DIP
This playful painting of a dog under water uses color contrast to indicate depth and perspective. It's a moment of pure joy captured for viewers. The dog's gaze is directed at the person looking at the painting, so they feel a part of the fun.

A mystical forest that would attract people to look further into it.

This charcoal drawing of a piece of fabric is an exercise in layers, shadow, depth, light, and form. It shows how to express tone using shading.

Because my mom lives in the US, she rarely sees her own mother in Taiwan. Here, they sit together, bound by the responsibilities of motherhood and self-sacrifice, each in her own way, both family and strangers at once.

This image represents the intersection of fashion and art. Fashion can bring out the qualities people want to show in themselves, but it can also consume their entire identity. Fur engulfs her, taking over her body. Also, instead of seeing her eyes, we only see the reflection of her clothes on the sunglasses that cover her face.
